Another fun session

These kiddos were so great and we got a lot of cute photos. I've actually been photographing them since before the youngest was even born! I always have fun with them. Here's a few from that day.

Cry Baby

Ouch! This punk finally got to go play paintball with his Dad yesterday. They had a lot of fun except for one little problem.

You see, even if you wear a chest protector, paintball jersey and your regular clothes... if that not so little paintball gets you just right... it hurts, apparently.

And you end up with a really nasty looking wound. I was told he was dancing around for a minute after that shot.

Oh yeah, and he's not the one that cried about it. That would've been me. :)

Busy Photographer...yeah!

I'm so excited that I've been keeping very busy with sessions, but that means my computer has been put on the back burner. I have lots of sessions to catch up on and I'll have some photos to share this week from them. So until then, you can check these out...

These two kiddos I photographed on Saturday morning at the Botanical Gardens. It was so fun, the kids were great and the setting was BEAUTIFUL!

She was so cute, she was so willing to have her picture taken and had lots of ideas of her own. When we were done she told me, "that was so fun". I love to hear that!

And this pose... that's all him. He did that, all I had to do was take the picture.

This was a fun session. I'll post more from their session later this week. Enjoy the sneak peek!

Happy kid!

So he got a lot of the paintball gear from us and THEN a box arrived. Even more cool gear from Grandmom and Granddad. He of course, immediately put everything on to "try it out".

Then today he gets home from school, puts everything on again. He asked me to take his picture. He told his dad though, "Mom wants to take my picture".

Sunday is the first day that they'll get a chance to go and "play". I'm not sure he can wait that long.
I think he secretly wants me to not have any sessions tomorrow. Sorry kid.

Great kid!

This is the daughter of my dear friend, Dawn. I actually photographed all 3 of her great kids this past weekend but I haven't had the time yet to go through those photos. I just pulled out this one because I'm trying a new "style". I like it a lot but I'm not sure how the parents would feel about it. It's a very high contrast, overly saturated kind of look and non-traditional cropping.

This is what I'm into these days. What do you think?

Sneak Peek

I had some fun sessions this weekend! The family featured here today was great! The kids were so cute and well behaved, I could've stayed all day. :)

I KNOW! Those eyes, wow.

Is she a cutie or what?! She really enjoyed my parasol.

More sessions will be coming soon, be sure to check back!

See you soon

This weekend and start of next week I have a bunch of sessions scheduled. So I may not get a chance to post daily but I'll try. At least so I can do a sneak peek from the sessions. :)

So until then, I hope that you like these...

Interesting?

O.k. somthing I think is very interesting is the eye color of my kids. I have 4 kids so you would think that at least two of them would have the same color or at least the same color as myself or my husband, right? Wrong. In this family of six, we all have different color eyes.
Weird!
My husband has brown eyes, but they're more of a light milky brown. I have green eyes, but they're more of a light grayish, blueish green.
Now here are the kids...

His eyes are green, with a weird light yellow thing going on.

Her eyes are brown like Daddy's but a little darker. They have kind of a reddish tint to them.

Now this little guy, I don't know where he came from. His eyes are SO DARK! They are brown. But most days you can't see where the color ends and the black pupil begins.

And the baby... Her eyes are blue. Kinda. They are starting to look more grey with a teeny tiny hint of green. My oldest kid and I both had blue eyes as a baby. So maybe hers will turn out to be like one of ours. Or not.

I think it's weird but interesting. It's funny too because my husband, who is very scientific and whatever, has been proved wrong. He was telling me when I was pregnant with baby #1, that it was not possible for the baby to have any other eye color than brown like his because he has the dominate brown eye gene, blah, blah, blah. Well wasn't he surprised when we had not one but two blue eyed babies. He he he.

Practice! Practice!

My kids are such good sports about letting me use them for practice. My oldest daughter loves when she's asked to "model".

Anyway, I have an upcoming evening wedding where I might what to do some sunset silhouette shots. Not what I usually do in children's portraits. So I wanted to practice those skills last night.

Originally I asked my daughter to wear one of her flow-y skirts but when it was time to go she wasn't feeling well. I almost gave up on the plan for the night when I thought I'll just make my not yet 10 year old do it. Well it was his brilliant idea to wear his cool helmet and bring his bike.

What a smart kid!

So I got my practice in on that one. Next!

While I'm finally getting back outdoors for sessions, I've been stuck using artificial light too much lately. So I got a new lense not long ago and really haven't played around with it much in natural light. I also wanted to practice that with this new lense. For this practice session I didn't ask for the model's permission. I just stuck her in front of the back door with a couple of toys and went to work.

My model did very well, don't you think? And it was fun for me too!
